The treatment room

As shown in the image above, the treatment space is a small, private, and warm clinical room in the village hall. There are toilets in the main hall and a kitchen next to the treatment room, which clients are welcome to use. There is a waiting area with seats in the entrance area. Sometimes there may be people in other rooms of the village hall, but generally the space is quiet.

Frequently asked questions

Preparing for your first massage? Understanding what to expect can ease any worries and help you fully enjoy your session.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Clients may prefer to wear shorts & t-shirt, or loose fitting clothes. All massage treatments work best with direct skin contact, so it is often necessary for clients to undress to their underwear to allow access to treatment areas, such as back and legs. In this case clients will be covered with sheets and towels.

I have reduced mobility, can I still have a treatment?

The village hall is accessible with ramp access and is mobility aid and wheelchair friendly. The massage couch is fully adjustable with electronic controls, so can easily be raised and lowered to make access easier for clients with limited mobility. Clients are welcome to bring a family member or carer to the session.

What aftercare advice do you provide?

After each session, we will discuss the treatment and how you are feeling. We will discuss suitable exercises and stretches to prolong treatment benefits and to develop good self-care practices. If future treatments are likely to be beneficial we will discuss options. There is never any pressure to commit to future treatments.

Are you qualified and experienced?

I am a fully qualified and insured sports and therapeutic masseuse. I am experienced in providing various clinical massage techniques, including sports therapy, trigger point treatment, and myofascial release.

How often should I schedule treatments for optimal benefit?

The frequency of massage sessions depends on individual needs. Many people feel the benefit from just a single session, particularly for minor aches and pains. Regular treatments can be helpful in the early stages of recovery from an injury or for clients managing chronic musculoskeletal conditions. In these cases a one-hour treatment every two weeks for 2-6 months may be beneficial. Once a condition is under control, clients may book top-up treatments every few months or as needed to maintain benefits.
